Paradigm Architects was founded by Timothy E. Barker and Louis T. Girdler in early 1993. Tim and Lou had previously worked together at two different St. Louis architectural firms, and they decided to combine their interests and talents in a new professional partnership.
The original office was at St. Louis' west boundary, in the vibrant University City Loop. For the first several years, Paradigm's client base consisted primarily of healthcare and higher education projects. In 2005, Paradigm relocated to downtown Clayton, Missouri.
Lou Girdler retired at the end of 2008. Tim moved the office to South St. Louis City in 2018.
Timothy Barker has been practicing architecture since graduating from the University of Kansas in 1985. He has a broad experience base and has been a design leader for diverse project types, including healthcare, higher education, city planning, commercial, financial services, institutional, and historic renovation.
In addition to architectural design, Tim has provided expert consulting in planning, graphic design, physical and computer modeling, photography and writing.
Anita brings her considerable organizational and creative skills to bear on all aspects of Paradigm's operation.
